MAINTAINING YOUR CO2 LASER

Daily maintenance of a CO2 laser machine is relatively simple:

-Clean the honeycomb. Cleaning products such as stripper or degreaser are not necessary to clean the cutting table. A good high-pressure wash is the best solution to remove the resin accumulated due to cutting.
-Check the water level in the laser tube. The laser tube contains water to cool the laser and protect it from overheating. Check the water level of the watercooling regularly and add water if necessary.
-Check the belt tension. Belts are responsible for transmitting the movement from the motor to the machine axes. If the belts are too loose, they can cause accuracy problems. Check the belt tension every month and tighten them if necessary.
-Check the lubrication of the axes. The axes of the laser machine must be lubricated to ensure smooth and quiet operation. Check the lubrication of the axes every month and add lubricant if necessary.
-Replace the water cooling system. Every 3 months or so, completely drain the cooling water. While operating, the laser tube produces ions that accumulate in the water and ultimately reduce its life expectancy.

It is recommended to perform annual maintenance on your CO2 laser machine which will include the following tasks:

- Cleaning the extraction turbine. Two to three times a year, completely dismantle the fume extraction system and clean all parts of the turbine, preferably using a high-pressure wash.
- Replacing worn parts. Replace all worn or damaged parts to ensure proper operation of the machine.
- Machine Calibration. Calibrate the machine to ensure optimum cutting and engraving accuracy.
